Thanks everyone for your interest, support and appreciation of the full color custom pogies we were able to make here at Shredical Industries. When we started out we were certain it was possible to make awesome pogies, it just had yet to be navigated. We learned a lot throught the process. We learned about sourcing material, sublimation printing, sewing, image licensing and how just about impossible it is to make anything in America anymore.
We learned all of those things, put it them all together, and pulled it off. We had created a product from scratch, by ourselves, made in America, that was fun, awesome, and original. Few can claim that in life. We had fun, rad full color custom whitewater kayaking pogies. We sold them at a competive price, using domesticly sourced material, domestic printing, and a seamstress in the united states who honestly made as much off of a pogie sale as we did.>
Unfortunately, the interest just wasn't there. People were intrigued, but not enough to replace their perfectly fine pogies. Or why would they get our handmade pogies when they could get the pair made in Sri Lanka for less that was twice as durable? Hell, we even had people in the industry who tout their product being made in america bitching that we weren't somehow cheaper than the products made in Pakistan. We had strangers naysaying us baselessly... As much as we thought people would be stoked on what we're up to... it just wasn't there.
So it's been fun, we learned a ton, we proved to ourselves it was possible, we got ourselves some most radical pogies, and we gave it an honest effort. In the end though, we've all got pretty good day jobs and when it came time to push this rock further uphill, we decided the interest didn't cover the headache.
We have random pairs left.
Get at us and we'll let you know what we've got. Reach out to Jesse on Facebook.
Want to do this yourself?
Get at us! It's all yours for a song and some other darn near trivial specifics. We know all the details, logistics, providers, etc etc... only thin we don't know is how to produce these puppies overseas. We chose never to go there, and if you want to, go fly a kite.
